On 10 December 2023, in Minbya town (Minbya township, Mrauk-U district, Rakhine state), the military stationed at the Kyein Taung area fired artillery rounds at around 3:40 pm and some of the rounds landed on a house in No.6 lane in Oak Kar Pyan ward, hitting and killing a 11-year-old girl and injuring five others. Khit Thit Media reported one more injured child died from injuries during treatment at the hospital. Fatalities coded as 2.
