On 11 December 2023, Houthi forces fired an anti-ship cruise missile targeting the Strinda oil/chemical tanker (IMO: 9330771) in the Strait of Bab el Mandeb claiming that the ship was sailing to Israel. The missile struck the ship resulting in damage that caused a fire but there were no fatalities or injuries. Sources reported missile launches from Al Hawban area in Taizz and from Al Hudaydah city.
