On 12 December 2023, in Sa Par Htar village (Ponnagyun township, Sittwe district, Rakhine state), two artillery shells fired by the Myanmar military (IB-232 and IB-344) based in Par Da Leik village landed in the village at around 8 pm. A 12-year-old girl and a six-year-old girl, who were hiding inside a bomb shelter within their house with their family, sustained severe injuries.
