On 14 December 2023, the Burkinabe air force carried out airstrikes against JNIM militants and against two vehicles and one armored vehicle in the area of Bourou (Nassoumbou, Soum). The vehicles were destroyed and several militants were killed. Fatalities coded as 3. JNIM issued statements saying that the Burkinabe army carried out massacres in the villages of Se and Bourou on 14 December, resulting in over 400 people killed most of whom were women, children, and elderly women, information that could not be independently verified.
