On 15 December 2023, Houthi forces fired a one way attack drone and two ballistic missiles at two commercial ships -- Al Jasrah (IMO: 9732321) container ship and MSC Palatium III (IMO: 9336165) container ship -- near the Strait of Bab el Mandeb claiming that the ships were sailing to Israel. The drone struck the Al Jasrah while one of the missiles struck the MSC Palatium III resulting in damage that caused fires on both ships but there were no fatalities or injuries. Houthi forces claimed to have targeted the MSC Palatium III and the MSC Alayan with missiles.
