On 17 August 2020, unidentified gunmen targeted a Turkish vehicle with either an IED or an RPG as it was travelling on the M4 Highway near Ariha in Idleb as part of the joint Turkish-Russian patrol that was roaming the M4 Highway between Ein Elhur in Lattakia and Turnabah in Idleb. Turkish forces seized a missile near the area where the explosion took place. The explosion caused some damage, but no injuries or fatalities.
