LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A loud explosion, similar to a gunshot, rang through the neighborhood of 23rd and B Streets on Tuesday morning after a man set off a homemade bomb.
Police responded to the area around 10:22 a.m. following a report from a victim who heard a loud bang near her front door. She said a man, later identified as 52-year-old Travis Dillon of Lincoln, had detonated what she described as dynamite before leaving. Officers found some discoloration on the concrete and debris similar to fireworks.
Later that morning, officers contacted Dillon at his home and took him into custody without incident. LPD searched his vehicle and found what appeared to be a 6-inch homemade explosive device.
Dillon was charged with using explosives to commit a felony, terroristic threats, possession of a destructive device and using explosives to kill or injure any person.
