On 3 December 2023, an unidentified armed group used explosives to blow up the main crude oil pipeline near Jannah Hunt Oil Company fields (Usaylan, Shabwah) causing significant damage and resulting in a substantial crude oil spill that rendered the pipeline that runs from the Jannah Hunt oil fields to Al Alam crude oil storage facilities inoperative. One source noted that the incident was the result of an internal dispute between 1st and 2nd STC Shabwani Defense Brigades forces over the right to protect oil and gas pipelines.
