On 3 December 2023, JNIM militants fired heavy gunfire and mortar shells at the FAMa and Wagner military camp in the town of Gossi (Gourma-Rharous, Tombouctou). FAMa stated that it was a harassment fire. Trusted sources said the militants seized three vehicles. A young girl was killed by a stray bullet. JNIM claimed responsibility and said the soldiers fled and left three vehicles behind.
