On 4 December 2023, in Shwe Yin Aye village (Maungdaw township, Maungdaw district, Rakhine state), the No.5 Border Guard Police (Na Kha Kha - 5) fired artillery rounds into the village at around 8 pm. Four locals including a pregnant woman and a 62-year-old woman sustained injuries. The victims were taken to Maungdaw General Hospital for medical treatment.
