On 4 December 2023, in Kyawng Hkam village (Hseni township, Lashio district, Shan-North state), a rocket fired by an unidentified armed group landed on a monastery in the village where about 1,300 IDPs were seeking shelter at around 5 am. A 60-year-old woman died from a heart attack while two other women sustained injuries from the rocket.
