The commander of the Golani Brigade's training base, Lt. Col. Shahar Barkai, was moderately wounded in southern Gaza today, during the incident in which five other soldiers were seriously wounded, in which an explosive device was detonated near the troops. Barkai had been substituting for the commander of Golani's 12th Battalion, who had been wounded in southern Israel at the beginning of the war. Lt. Col. Omer Suleiman will now return to command his battalion.
