In Mali, the Jnim (Groupe de soutien à l'islam et aux musulmans) has claimed responsibility for attacks on the army in the Timbuktu region. On Saturday, the Jnim claimed responsibility for attacks on the army in the Timbuktu region. In a press release, the al-Qaeda-linked group described the two operations carried out on Friday 24 November against two Malian Armed Forces military camps. The Niafunké and Goundam camps were the targets of the attacks, which left dozens dead. First, the Malian military camp at Niafunké was hit by a kamikaze vehicle. The base subsequently came under the control of the jihadists. According to Jnim, several dozen Malian soldiers were killed and two Famas taken prisoner. In images, the jihadist group shows its spoils of war: five cars, heavy weapons and military equipment. At the same time as it was attacking the Niafunké camp, the Jnim was launching an assault on another Malian camp. This was Goundam, in the same Timbuktu region. The jihadist group claims to have fired mortar shells at the base.
