On 19 November 2023, the Burkinabe air force carried out a drone strike against merchants from Mondoro and Niangassagou on their way to the market of Boulkessi (Douentza, Mopti). About 30 merchants were killed. JNIM released a statement saying that 12 people were killed and displayed images of the burned Djayel market. 12 fatalities coded.
