On 26 July 2020, an IED planted by an unidentified armed group went off targetting and killing a commander of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e Mohammad (JeM) militant group in the Takhta Pul area of Musa Qala district, Helmand. Taliban was blamed for the attack but the group has denied responsibility for the attack.
