On 27 July 2020, 1 soldier was killed and and 2 were wounded when their Black Hawk helicopter was hit a Taliban-fired missile in Kajaki district, Helmand. The Afghan military initially said the helicopter crashed due to technical issues. US and Afghan officials said the missile was 'rarely seen in the hands of the Taliban.'
