On 9 November 2023, in Mong Tin village of Lashio township (Lashio district, Shan-North state), heavy artillery shells fired by an unidentified armed group landed in the village at around 7 am. The shelling killed a 60-year-old woman and a 12-year-old girl. The shelling also injured a 40-year-old woman.
