Kyinthi Bridge connecting Hsipaw and Kyaukme Townships on Mandalay-Lashio Union Highway in northern Shan State collapsed this morning after it was attacked by a mine on November 12.

The Kyinthi Bridge connecting Hsipaw and Kyaukme towns on Mandalay-Lashio Union Road in northern Shan State was mined yesterday morning, causing damage to the middle of the bridge and stopping traffic flow.

Residents in Thipaw town said that the residents of Thipaw town suffered emotional confusion due to people telling fake news regarding the bridge collapse.“The bridge was broken and then there were spreading fake news saying that the Ta’aung National Liberation Army (TNLA) has captured the whole. The locals including the children were afraid. Now Hispaw is not like the old days anymore. It gave the Hsipaw town a scare. Some shops are opened and residents are now fleeing to nearby villages last two days. I heard the sounds of gunfire until yesterday. Now, it’s quiet. In this situation, I don't want to be inaccurate and give fake news,” said a local from Hsipaw town.

The PSLF/TNLA issued a statement with the photos that they attacked and captured the Kyinthi Bridge police outpost near Hsipaw town yesterday early morning. The TNLA’s photos showed that the Kyinthi police outpost was fired.

A resident of Hsipaw town said that the attack on Kyinthi bridge forced many residents to abandon their homes and some already sheltered at the compound of Bawgyo Pagoda.

The civilians from Kyinthi village situated between Kyaukme and Hsipaw townships and nearby villages worried that the war will be occurring in their native.
