Missile event in Kyiv, Kyiv area, Ukraine on Sun 12th November 2023
12th November 2023
A Russian ballistic missile strike resulted in damage to 18 homes and one business in Kyiv Oblast, as reported by the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration on November 11. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and critical infrastructure remained unaffected.
The strike marks the first attack on Ukraine's capital in 52 days.
The missile strike caused damage to both residential and non-residential premises, primarily windows, doors, roofs, and facades. The administration stated that the destruction resulted from the blast wave and falling debris.
The incident triggered air defense systems in the city, with blasts heard at approximately 8 a.m., followed by an air raid siren.
The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that a Russian ballistic missile targeting Kyiv was successfully intercepted by a Patriot air defense system. Ukraine had received its first two Patriot systems from the U.S. and Germany in April. In October, Germany committed to delivering an additional Patriot system to enhance Ukraine's defenses against potential missile attacks during the upcoming winter months.
