On 29 October 2023, an unidentified armed group detonated an explosive device at the Rivers state house of assembly complex in Port Harcourt (Port Harcourt, Rivers). Sources report that the explosion was connected to the rift between the state governor and the immediate past governor and the planned impeachment of the governor. Casualties are unknown.
