On 31 October 2023, in Waingmaw township (Myitkyina district, Kachin state), the military conducted airstrikes three times on the An Lawt Bum hill near Lai Zar town at around 2 pm and aslo fired heavy artillery shells at the base camps of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Arakan Army (AA) located surrounding areas of Lai Za at around 2:30 pm. The KIA headquarters located in Lai Zar town, which is 25 miles away from Kan Taw Yar village where the combined force claimed to sezie the military outpost. Casualties unknown.
