On 31 October 2023, multiple IEDs made out of batteries, wires, and bottles filled with petrol were planted by an assailant targeting a Jehovah's Witness (Christian) religious gathering in the Kalamassery locality in Kochi city (Ernakulam, Kerala). Three persons were killed and over 50 people were injured.
