On 1 November 2023, in Kyun Taw village (Kyaikto township, Thaton district, Mon state), the military fired artillery rounds two times between 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm and some of the rounds landed in a rubber field and near a gas station, hitting and breaking the windows of a Yangon - Mawlamyine Highway bus stopped near a gas station and injuring 8 passengers. The other source, Independent Mon News Agency, reported that an unknown armed group planted a landmine which exploded and injured 8 locals on a passenger van on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway around 9:30 pm. They were sent to a hospital to receive treatment.
