The Islamic resistance group reported on Saturday that it had targeted American troops in southern Syria using drones, marking the latest in a series of assaults on United States forces in the Middle East.
The attacks are seen as a response to Washington's support for israeli aggression on Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, communicating through its Telegram channel, claimed responsibility for hitting US troops stationed at the al-Tanf garrison in Syria's southern province of Homs with two drones. The group has been consistently linked to most of these attacks.
In their statement, the group mentioned, "The targets were hit directly," a recurring assertion included at the conclusion of their statements regarding assaults on American forces.
While the United States has not officially confirmed the group's involvement in the attacks on its forces, they have pointed the blame toward Iran. Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Pat Ryder, during a press briefing on Thursday, stated, "We know that these are Iranian-backed militia groups that are supported by Iran, and of course, we hold Iran responsible for these groups."
