A Second World War bomb was found in Guildford on Sunday morning (October 22) by a group of magnet fishermen who pulled the relic from the River Wey. Police were called to the scene close to Stoke Park and the item was disposed of by the bomb squad. One of the men who made the concerning discovery said the item was found around 100 yards from the A3 crossover and directly below the towns Dragon Teeth rows of pyramid-shaped blocks built as anti-tank measures in World War Two popular with walkers. A cannonball was also claimed to have been pulled from the river a short distance away.
