Three crude bombs were recovered from the Nilkhet area of Dhaka on Thursday morning, on the last day of a three-day blockade enforced by the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and their allies.
The bomb disposal unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) recovered the unexploded crude bombs at around 7:50am, Shafiqul Gani Babu, officer-in-charge of New Market police station confirmed.
The bombs were spotted on a road near “Niharika Bhaban” around 7:25am, he said, adding that two individuals wearing helmets riding a motorcycle came to the area, hurled the bombs and fled the area.
However, the crude bombs wrapped in black scotch tape did not explode then, said the OC.
Later, they sought help from the bomb disposal unit, which reached the spot at around 7:50 and diffused the bombs, he added.
“We are on high alert in this regard. Police patrolling has been strengthened. All kinds of activities are underway to arrest the criminals,” added the police official.
