IED event in Gazipur, Kaliganj upazila area, Bangladesh on Sat 28th October 2023

Three people were arrested for exploding crude bombs and blocking roads by setting fire on a motorbike on the Kaliganj-Tongi-Ghorashal bypass road at Kaliganj upazila in Gazipur district on Saturday night. The arrested are Md Yusuf, 39, Rasel, 40, and Bipul Sheikh, 32, hailed from Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj district. Kaliganj Police Station officer-in-charge Md Fayejur Rahman confirmed the matter on Sunday morning. Around 10.00pm on Saturday night, some miscreants created panic in the area by throwing four cocktails, which of them, two detonated immediately and two others remained unexploded. Later, they set fire to a motorbike, he said. Being informed, firefighters doused the blaze and recovered the two unexploded bombs from the spot, however, no casualties have been reported in this regard, said Md Fayejur Rahman. Later, police arrested the trio following a case filed with the police station, the OC added.
