Two Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres were killed in an encounter with security personnel in a forest located under Koyalibeda Police Station limits in Kanker District of Chhattisgarh on October 20, reports India Today. The face-off took place around 8 a.m. [IST] when a team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), a unit of the State Police Force, was out on an anti-Naxal [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] operation, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bastar Range, Sundarraj P. said. After the exchange of fire stopped, the bodies of two Maoists, along with an INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) assault rifle, one 12-bore rifle, and other arms and ammunition, were recovered from the spot. The identity of the slain Maoists is yet to be ascertained.
