On 14 October 2023, near Ma Yoe Kone village (Myaung township, Sagaing district, Sagaing region), the military on two vessels in the Ayeyarwady River fired artillery rounds and some of the rounds landed on the Nga Nan Island near the Ma Yoe Kone harbor, hitting about 14 cows. Shepherds were not injured as they were able to take cover. They claimed that the military fired without any provocation.
