On 15 October 2023, PKK militants attacked Turkish army soldiers, via heavy weapons, in Gire Orte area in Al Amadiya district, Duhok, in conjunction Turkish army soldiers carried out shelling in the area. HPG (PKK) claimed that Turkish forces used bombs containing poisonous gas during the strikes, but this was not confirmed by other sources. Casualties unknown.
