Projectile event in Kachin, Mohnyin area, Myanmar on Mon 16th October 2023

On 16 October 2023, in A Nang Pa village of Hpakant township (coded as Hpakant) (Mohnyin district, Kachin state), the Myanmar military launched airstrikes on A Nang Pa village, a market and KIA's Brigade 9 Headquarters from around 4:30 pm until 5:30 pm. The military troops stationed in A Nang Pa and Ginsi hill also fired artillery rounds into the village. Around 6 pm, the military conducted an airstrike again with two fighter jets and the military based in Kan Hsee village fired artillery shells around 10 times from 6 pm to 8 pm. During the attack, access to the internet and telephone were also cut off. A captain and two lieutenants of KIA were killed and ten others were injured. Two civilians were also injured. According to Radio Free Asia and Khit Thit Media, two KIA officers were killed and another injured, while Kachin News Group reported that three were killed and four injured.
