On 16 October 2023, overnight, a suicide bomber from Al Shabaab blew himself up at Blue Sky restaurant in Mogadishu - Bondhere (Banadir). The restaurant was frequented by security officers and Somali journalists. The suicide bomber and three people were killed, including a journalist and seven others were injured. Al Shabaab claimed killing nine people.
