On 18 October 2023, in Tar Ma Hkan village (Hpakant township, Mohnyin district, Kachin state), the Myanmar military (LIB-119) fired three artillery rounds towards the areas of the KIA and the PDF at around 5 pm without an armed clash occurring. One of artillery shells landed in Nat Yae Kan ward, killing a 13-year-old girl and injuring a 50-year-old woman.
