On 18 October 2023, near Tuphei village (Falam township, Falam district, Chin state), a 50-year-old woman from Zawng Lay village stepped on a landmine while collecting herbs near the base-camp of the 268th Light Infantry Battalion and killed by the explosion. Locals believe that the mine was planted by the Myanmar military as military troops were stationed at the entrance of Tuphei village.
