Russia has said that it has taken out Ukrainian soldiers in Zaporizhzhia using kamikaze drones. The images purport to show Russian soldiers spotting Ukrainian troops entering a dugout before hitting it with the kamikaze drones. The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Wednesday, October 18, along with a statement claiming: 'In the area of the village Verbovoye, in the Zaporizhzhia direction of the Northern Military District, military personnel of the Airborne Forces successfully use FPV drones to destroy concentrations of Armed Forces personnel in shelters located in forest plantations.' The Russian MoD added: 'When performing combat work, a crew consisting of an operator and an assistant moves to a given area, from where it prepares and launches a kamikaze drone. The operator, controlling the drone using special VR glasses, determines the target that needs to be destroyed. 'The assistant operator directly prepares the cumulative grenade with its striking elements, attaches it to the drone, launches the FPV drone and tracks the direction of its flight on the map, orients the operator and corrects his work. 'This time, the operator noticed three Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers hiding in the dugout of a strong point and sent an FPV drone to destroy them. 'The assistant skillfully corrected the operator's work on approaching the target and recorded the FPV drone hitting a shelter with personnel of Ukrainian formations, which were destroyed.' Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
