Bedfordshire Police stated that the device found did not post "any risk" and was "safely removed" Emergency services rushed to a road in Luton following the discovery of an unexploded bomb. The incident occurred yesterday (Monday, October 16) when police were called at around 10.50am to reports that a device - that was thought to be an unexploded mortar shell - had been discovered on Catherral Road in Luton. This led bomb squads to rush to the scene, where a cordon was put in place. The emergency services' Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers investigated the area regarding the incident. However, the device discovered did not post "any risk" and was subsequently "safely removed". A spokesperson for Bedfordshire Police said: "Police were called at around 10.50am today (Monday) to reports that a device, believed to be an unexploded mortar shell, had been found in Catherral Road, Luton. "A cordon was put in place, while Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers investigated. The device was not found to pose any risk and has been safely removed."
