Authorities are conducting a WWII bomb disposal operation in Huckarde, Dotmund, as of the afternoon Oct. 11 following the discovery of unexploded ordnance earlier in the day. The operation is occurring near the intersection of Lindberghstrasse and Franz-Schluter-Strasse in the Huckarde neighborhood, and authorities are implementing a 250 meter (820 feet) evacuation radius around the site. The railway line between Dortmund-Mengede and Dortmund Hauptbahnhof is closed for the duration of the operation. Authorities expect the operation to conclude by 18:00; however, work could continue into the evening. Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely near the affected area. Knock-on disruptions are possible at Dortmund Hauptbahnhof and may linger for several hours after the operation ends. Reconfirm travel through Dortmund Hauptbahnhof during the impacted timeframe. Avoid the affected area as a standard precaution. Allow additional time if traveling near the operation zone. Strictly heed all instructions from authorities.
