On 9 October 2023, in Moe Bye town (Pekon township, Taunggyi district, Shan-South state), following a clash between the Myanmar military and a combined force of the People's Defense Force - Demoso, Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF), People's Defense Force - Loikaw, and Mobye People's Defense Force (coded separately), the military fired artillery rounds indiscriminately into the town. Three artillery shells landed in Si Kar ward, three others landed in No.3 intersection, and two more landed on the road. A civilian was killed by artillery shells.
