On 8 October 2023, in Yoe Ta Yoke village (Ponnagyun township, Sittwe district, Rakhine state), an unexploded explosive detonated in an IDP camp located near the Yoe Ta Yoke train station at around 10 am after children found it near the garbage and struck it with a stone. An 11-year-old boy was killed, and an 8-year-old boy and a 6-year-old boy sustained critical injuries. The IDPs assume that the explosive belongs to the military as the military troops used to be stationed in the area.
