SAA event in Chhatisgargh, Bandepara in Bijapur area, India on Tue 17th October 2023

A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre was killed in an encounter with security personnel belonging to the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighter, both units of the State Police, the Special Task Force (STF), and the Central Reserve Police Force's (CRPF) 170th battalion in a forest near Bandepara village under Madded Police Station limits in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on October 17, reports The Hindu. Acting on inputs about the presence of senior Maoists, including Madded area committee of Maoists in-charge Nagesh, its 'secretary' Buchanna, member Vishwanath, along with 15-20 armed cadres, in Koranjed-Bandepara Forests, the joint operation was launched. The face-off took place at around 6 a.m. in a forest near Bandepara village, and after the exchange of fire stopped, the body of a Maoist and an AK-47 rifle were recovered from the spot. The identity of the killed Maoists is yet to be ascertained.
