On 7 October 2023, Russian forces shelled Ukrainian positions near Tonenke, Donetsk. A Ukrainian drone command center was damaged. According to Russian sources, up to 165 Ukrainian servicemen were killed near Andriivka, Nevelske, Kurdiumivka, Tonenke, Novhorodske and Stupochky. [Russian MoD reported 165 fatalities.
