The project manager of the Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC), identified as Shabat Mirza, was killed while his driver sustained injuries in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast targeting his in Sor range coal field area of Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, on October 8, reports Dawn. Quetta Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Jawad Tariq said the PMDC official was traveling to the Sor Range in a car along with his driver, Muhammad Zakir, when the blast occurred. “Mirza passed away on the spot while his driver sustained critical injuries”, adds SSP Jawad Tariq.
