On October 7, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested five Ansar al-Islam operatives, including its Naib-e-Amir (deputy chief) identified as Sakhawatul Kabir alias Anis alias Rafique, Ihsanur Rahman alias Murad alias Saif (‘military wing’ chief of Dhaka region), Bakhtiar Rahman alias Nazmul, Yusuf Ali Sarker, and Jahedul Islam alias Ashraf from Jatrabari area in Dhaka District (Dhaka Division), reports The Daily Star. Two foreign pistols and 15 rounds of bullets were recovered from their possession.
