SAA event in Jammu and Kashmir, Kokernag Town in Anantnag District area, India on Tue 19th September 2023

The week-long anti-militancy operation namely ‘Operation Garol’ in Gadool Forests in Kokernag Town of the Anantnag District in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) was concluded on September 19, Chinar Corps posted on X (previouslyTwitter). The joint operation of the Army and Police was conducted from September 13, 2023, to September 19, 2023, claimed the lives of four security personnel identified as Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Aashish Dhonchak, Sepoy Pardeep Singh (Army personnel) and Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Bhat. Two terrorists were also eliminated. One of them was identified as Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) ‘Commander’ Uzair Khan, adds Daily Excelsior. The teams also recovered one pistol, two AK rifles, and other war-like stores from the site of the operation. SATP had earlier reported seven deaths – five Security Force personnel and two terrorists.
