On 17 September 2023, in Sagaing town (Sagaing township, Sagaing district, Sagaing region), the Garuda King Monywa attacked the Myanmar military stationed in Shwe Bon Thar monastery near Nga Htet Gyi pagoda with 60 mm heavy weapons and five military soldiers were killed. Khit Thit Media and Mizzima reported that this event happened around 3:40 am on 16 September.
