On 18 September 2023, in Zay Thit village (Madaya township, Pyinoolwin district, Mandalay region), the Myanmar military based in In Gyin Myaing village fired artillery rounds into the village at around 2:20 pm. The shelling occurred after a village administrator from Zay Haung village was killed by unidentified armed individuals (coded separately). A 50-year-old woman was killed by artillery shells, and a 15-year-old girl and a one-moth-old infant sustained injuries.
