On 19 September 2023, PKK militants carried out a remote explosive attack targeting Turkish soldiers in Bektorya area (Kurdish name) in Haftanin region of Duhok. HPG (PKK) claimed 2 Turkish soldiers were killed and one soldier was injured in the attack but other sources did not confirm this (claimed fatalities coded as 0).
