On 21 September 2023, the Burkina Faso air force carried out air strikes against civilians during a mourning in the village of Bidi (Koumbri, Yatenga). At least 20 civilians were killed and nine others wounded including several severely. In a statement released by JNIM, it said the Burkinabe air force conducted air strikes against civilians and killed 37.
