On 11 September 2023, in Ma Au village of Monywa township (Monywa district, Sagaing region), the Monywa Lightning PDF launched an attack using 40 mm heavy artillery shells against the Myanmar military troops stationed in Ma Au military security gate. Six military soldiers died and a military captain was injured. Irrawaddy reported that at least 6 military soldiers were killed or injured. Fatalities coded as 0.
