On 10 September 2023, in Taung Boet Hla village (Wuntho township, Kawlin district, Sagaing region), a 60mm unexploded grenade exploded after a child struck it with a stick while children were playing in the area at around 3 pm. A 10-year-old child who hit the grenade was killed, and six other children sustained injuries. Locals claimed that the grenade belonged to the Myanmar military.
